The idea that people in America might want a politician as fucked up as they are is, in itself, fucked up. So we don’t hold Joe Schmoe in trailer park #7192 to a higher standard of living. That’s because we don’t care about Mr. Schmoe. He’s got nothing to do with us and his actions, sheep-molesting though they may be, don’t tend to have any larger repercussions. The fact is, though, politicians do affect us. The shit they do affects us very much, and the decisions they make can hit us in the pocket-book, in the schools, and even in our bedrooms. So yeah, we don’t hold Mr. Schmoe to a higher standard, but goddammit we shouldn’t elect him to office just because he’s fucked up. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say we should NOT elect him to office because he’s fucked up. I know, I know, I’m a wacko liberal, but I’ve just got to speak my mind.

I’ll end with a brief request: please care about our country, and about the people who represent it. You don’t have to attend rallies, but you can pay attention, and you can vote. It all of it really does matter, you know.
